Hamilton Township School District TALENT21 Grant Article in the Press of Atlantic City Purpose: Hamilton Township School District staff members will provide after school supplemental education sessions focused on enhancing student technology skills for the students and families of the district and St. Vincent DePaul School.
What: This will take the form of an internet café to be held Thursday evenings from 5:00PM to 7:30PM. One staff member will supervise the café from 5:00-7:00PM and a second staff member will supervise the cafe from 5:30-7:30PM. During the overlapping time of the two instructors, parent workshops will be implemented to assist parents with being active in their child’s education. Recommended workshop topics are as follows; Homework Help, Glogster, Prezi, Voicethread, Animoto, Wikispaces and more TBD. Students attending the café must take their netbooks home with them on the Thursdays they plan on visiting the Internet Café, as they will not have access to their classrooms in the evening.

Other: · Light Snacks & Beverages - will be provided in a designated computer-free zone (donated by the HTSD food services department). · Advertisement - the Internet Café will be advertised on the WDMS homepage, the Talent21 page and in a notice to be sent home to the 6th graders’ parents. · Who can attend - the café will be open to all Hamilton Township and St. Vincent De Paul students as long as they are accompanied by an adult during their entire time in the café. · Additional Laptops - there will be a cart of laptops available in the cafetorium for use by students other than T21 students and/or parents. They will be able to log on to the network as guests or with their student log on information. · SWAT – WDMS SWAT members may be available as additional support for the Internet Café.
